I support Representative Doug Welton for re-election to serve in House District 65. Doug is a principled Conservative committed to Utah's values of limited government and low taxes. He was a strong support to me as I drafted and passed legislation to add a Civics Thought and Leadership Initiative to the Constitutional Studies Program at UVU. Doug is an award winning High School Debate Coach and a strong conservative mentor for our children. I urge you to support him.
As a strong advocate of law enforcement, Doug has always been there to support the officers and law enforcement agencies of Utah county. Doug understands the need to build strong relationships with the community and keep those who bring harm to our communities and neighbors off the streets. He works hard to reach out to the stakeholders who are affected by policies and laws to understand all sides of issues. He is thoughtful and pragmatic in his approach to law making and working through the challenges we face in Utah county.
Interim meetings resumed last month and I’m excited to dive deep into some of the significant issues facing our state and working with my colleagues to find the best solutions. You can view the highlights here. All members of the public are invited to watch committee meetings in person or online. This month’s interim meetings will be held on June 14-15th.
End of the Session
We made it to the end of the 2022 General Session, and I am proud of what we accomplished! We passed several bills that exemplify the Utah Way. None of this would be possible without the hard work and contributions of the House staff, my fellow legislators, stakeholders across the state, insight and feedback from my many constituents, and most importantly…my family. I am grateful for all of you!
